Cookie Wedding Cake
Today many brides want to think outside the box. The nontraditional bride doesn't want a stuffy wedding but instead plans a funky, fun ceremony and reception. She may choose to have a wedding that is simple and casual. She wants everyone to enjoy her day as much as she does. Her choice of dress will also be nontraditional and will reflect her sense of style. This bride doesn't care if she breaks all of the stuffy old rules pertaining to weddings. Gasp. She doesn't even want a wedding cake. Not a fan of cake, she sees no reason to waste her money on a cake she doesn't even want to eat. Instead the cookie freak bride wants a cookie wedding cake.
A cookie wedding cake can be fun, tasty, and still act as a centerpiece of the wedding reception. Particularly if the bride is thrifty, she and her friends can make the cookie wedding cake and save a lot of money. Cookies are easy to make and freeze extremely well. Months before the wedding friends and family can start baking their favorite cookies and freezing them for the big day. Even if the bride doesn't want to make the cake herself, she can easily find a bakery to make the cookies she needs.
If the bride goes the do-it-yourself route, she should start early. No one should be baking the night before her wedding. If the bride enjoys baking, she can choose five or six of her best recipes and start baking and freezing. If she runs out of freezer room, she can ask the neighbors for help. The cookies don't even have to be beautiful; they simply have to taste good. The decorating can make up for the homemade looking cakes.
In order to make the cookies look like a cookie wedding cake, the bride needs to make a few purchases or book rentals depending on how many people are coming to the reception. All the bride needs is a tiered serving platter. The tiers will be larger at the bottom and smaller at the top. A cute cake topper and some decorations will complete the cookie wedding cake.
On the day before the wedding, all of the cookies should be thawed and taken to the reception hall. The caterer or whoever is in charge of the reception can assemble the cookie wedding cake very easily. She simply puts the cookies on the tiers placing them so that they look pretty. The tiers should be full of cookies so that the cookie wedding cake won't look skimpy.
After the cookies are placed on the tiered platter, some decorations are needed to add pizzazz to the cookie wedding cake. Beautiful cut flowers would be perfect to add the needed color and style to make your cake a standout. The place some cut flowers on the cake table to finish the look.
When it's time to cut the cake or eat some cookies, the bride and groom share a cookie for their pictures. Then everyone at the reception start eating the cookie wedding cake. A really nice touch if you have lots of cookies left after the reception is to have some pretty bags for the guests to take home the leftover cookies. That way you have a wedding cake that turns into guest favors. Brilliant.
A cookie wedding cake is a great way to surprise your guests and show your nontraditional sense of style. It can also save you a lot of money because wedding cakes can be just expensive as they are stale. Don't be afraid; everyone will love your cookie wedding cake.
